The vision of the creation of Peniel was inspired by the ministry of Colombian Pastor Rafael Villar, who on behalf of the Evangelical Church of Holiness gave a seminar for leaders in Siguatepeque in 1982, in which Luis Rodolfo Sorto, Reina Madrid de Sorto, Pedro Marcía Soto, Emilio Padilla, Dora Molina de Argueta, María Marcos Padilla, Elizabeth Padilla and Gaspar Oliva.

Peniel was born as a missionary field of Christian service and testimonial presence in response to the need for educational, moral, ethical and practical training for the children and young people of the community of Marcala and its surroundings. The name Peniel alludes to the main aspiration of the project, that every child, youth, teacher and father of family can have a personal encounter with God through the revelation of his Word.

Work began in February 1983 with kindergarten, high school, first, second and third grade in the Sunday School classrooms of the Holiness Church in Marcala, La Paz, under the ministry of Pastor Pedro Marcía Soto, with volunteer teachers from the Local church, with a registration of 45 students.

Economically, the institution for many years was supported by contributions from parents, contributions from the local Church, donations of people interested in the work and service of Council members, and individuals, churches, and voluntary institutions who believed in the vision ; Currently its economic support comes from contributions by parents’ educational services and contributions from ADIEEDS.

The goodness of God has always been manifest despite the adverse circumstances that have transpired in the course of time, in 1986 Mr. Adan Barrios Bonilla was bought an apple of land and in 1989 Mr. Adán Bonilla Contreras donated the amount of one Block of land, the amount of land and physical facilities has continued to increase.

In 1987, the Garden and School joined the Association of Educational Institutions of Holiness (ADIEEDS), this being a very valuable decision in the institutional development of this project of God.

In February 1989, an agreement was reached in which the Ministry of Education approved the creation of the Evangelical Peniel Institute, which ran from seventh to ninth grade and in 1999 began with a Baccalaureate.

In 2010, Carlos Humberto Ávila, Executive Director of ADIEEDS promoted the incursion in the area of bilingual education in a progressive way, with the aim of preparing bilingual professionals and thus contribute to the development of the community, being a great challenge For Peniel to provide Cristocéntricos educational services of excellence.
